This project was created so that we could practice using commands in our Spanish vocabulary! We were asked to find a recipe from a Spanish speaking country and write the commands for the dish in Spanish. we were encouraged to actually create the dish at home, but many of us didn't. here is my project below...
I think that My work on this project was good, I spent plenty of time doing research and finding a recipe I would deeply enjoy. I worked with susie to correct my mistakes and I ended up with a project that I'm proud of. If we had done this assignment earlier in the year, I probably would have put more effort into my recipe. maybe I would've even made this recipe since it looks pretty good. I plan to cook this for my family over the summer and try to trick them into thinking it's meat.
El Proyecto de Mi Inmigrante:
For this project, we were asked to research an immigrant either in our family or someone famous and write a biography about them in Spanish! Susie wanted us to work specifically with Spanish grammar in the past tense, both imperfect and perfect. She wanted her class to learn about our families and gain a connection with them though this project. However, I don't have a huge connection with either side of my family, in fact I really only know my mom and she is definitely not an immigrant. So, I decided to choose a famous immigrant... and I choose Aubrey Hepburn! I choose her because I admire her community service work, her fashion, and iconic status in pop culture.
Here is my final product:
I will not lie, during this project instead of using my in-class work-time to work with susie and manage my time appropriately. I choose to goof around with my friends and paint, and although this was fun it caused myself to get stressed out and it caused susie to worry about if I would pass her class. so, even though my Spanish might not be very good and my canvas still turned out visually pleasing, I would say that the biggest thing I learned from this project is that I have so much talent and potential. I need to learn to value the time my teachers give me, because it's for my best interest. there is always time for me to have fun, but I need to find a healthy balance. thank you susie, for showing me that.
Dia de los Muertos:
Dia de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that is for remembering and celebrating your passed loved ones. This holiday began in Mexico but can be practiced in other places by people of Mexican heritage. The celebration usually lasts 1-2 days and the "party" consists of parades and other festival activities. Some other traditions that are a part of Dia de Los Muertos is setting up an altar, painting skulls on your face, and eating special foods like Pan de Muerto. (Bread of the Dead)
El Obituario:
For my Obituario I decided to commemorate my father who passed away in 2017. Traditionally, I would place his picture on my family's altar but for my Spanish 2 class Señora Susy had me also write a little biography for my dad. Here is my work:
For this assignment I drew a random celebrity out of a hat to make a little calavera cartoon about! I ended up getting Kim Kardashian, so that is who my La Calavera cartoon is about.
